B day questions when we have a sub

Questions: 1. What is a daguerrotype? What did the surface of a daguerrotype resemble? When were they prominent? What photographic process did the daguerrotype replace?The daguerreotype process is one of the earliest photographic processes.The daguerreotype was invented by Louis Daguerre (french) he shared his discovery with the world on August 1839. A daguerreotype consists of a silvered copper plate, which keeps the image, and a housing to protect the plate. The image in a daguerreotype shows up negative, but it can be viewed as a positive when the reflective surface reflects something dark. The details in a daguerreotype are clear and sharp when done correctly. The image itself consists of higher or lower densities of microscopic silver and mercury particles. The surface of a daguerreotype resembles a mirror. The daguerreotype was prominent in the 1850's. The daguerreotype replaced the camera obscurra.

2. What is an "albumen" print? What was the main "ingredient" of the albumen process? When did the albumen process die out?  Albumen is commercially exploitable method of producing a photographic print on a paper base from a negative.The main "ingrediant" in the albumen process is the albumen found in egg whites.The albumen process died out in the late 1850's.

A carte de visite is a small photographic portrait of someone that is mounted on a piece of card. These cards became popular trading with relatives and friends. Some people used them as calling cards like todays business cards.
5. Who were Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner? They both are notable for what type of photography? When were they active? Post two noteworthy photographs for each photographer.  Mathew Brady was one of the most celebrated 19th century American Photographers, best known for his portraits of celebrities and his documentation of the American Civil War. He is credited with being the father of Photojournalism. Alexander Gardner was a Scottish Photographer. He moved to the United States in 1856, where he began to work full-time in that profession. He is best known for his photographs of the American Civil war, Abe Lincon, and the execution of the conspirators to Lincons Assasonation. They both are notable for civil war photography.They were active photographers in the late 1800's and the 19th century. They were 19th century civil war photographers.

Nicephore Niepce Famous Photo

Nicephore Niepce took the first documented permenent photo in 1826. The picture captures the roof and surrounding the country side of his estate. This photo was created with a camera obscura focused onto a 20 × 25 cm (7.9 × 9.8 in) pewter plate coated with bitumen of judea and it was exposed for 8 hours.he was born in 1765.
